History
The Old Wellington survived the Blitz in 1940 and the IRA bomb in 1996 to remain the only surviving Tudor building in the centre of Manchester.
It was once a draper’s shop and the author John Byrom, famous for composing the Anglican hymn, was born here.
The pub was moved to its present location in the 1970’s to make way for the Arndale Centre development.

The two pubs share a large outdoor area with trestle tables, which always seem jam-packed unless it’s raining of course. Not everyone’s cup of tea, as it can get a bit rowdy, but definitely worth a try if you are in the city. Pies are a specialty.
