Artist and craftsman William Morris (1834-96) once called Bibury “the most beautiful village in England.” Bibury is located on the River Coln whose pristine waters flow through the town (see below). Arlington Mill

The Arlington Mill (see below) in Bibury once housed a folk and agricultural museum which had a room dedicated to William Morris (1834-1896), the British artist and conservationist. It is now a private residence.

Stay At The Swan Hotel

The Swan Hotel in Bibury (see photograph below) is an ivy-clad 17th-century former coaching inn and offers private fishing on the River Coln. The Swan is known for its excellent locally sourced food and also its delicious English breakfasts.

Arlington Row

Bibury features a row of 17th-century stone cottages called ‘Arlington Row’ which once housed weavers who supplied cloth to the local mill referred to above.

Access – Getting There

The village of Bibury is located about 6.5 miles northeast of Cirencester on the B4425. Bibury is also a short drive from Stroud, Gloucester, Malmesbury, Swindon, and slightly further from Bath. From Burford, it is about 10 miles southwest on the B4425.

The village is also part of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which helps protect its natural and architectural heritage including its lovely Cotswold stone walls and buildings.
