Exeter Cathedral Close, Exeter, Devon
The streets around Exeter Cathedral are the prettiest in the town. Cathedral Close has many fine old buildings around the green in front of the Norman-period church.
The Royal Clarence Hotel, the Bishop of Crediton’s house, Mol’s Coffee House, which dates from 1598, and was supposedly a haunt of Raleigh and Drake, and a number of other period piece buildings, which now house cafes and restaurants, make up the pleasant area.
Picnic on the lawn or try a pleasant pint in the nearby Ship Inn.
