Bath Botanical Gardens, Royal Victoria Park, Bath

The 9.5-acre Bath Botanical Gardens form part of the larger Royal Victoria Park in the western area of the city.

History

They were created in 1887 and contain a replica of a Roman Temple of Minerva which was shown at the British Empire Exhibition, held at Wembley in London in 1924.

Other notable features of Bath’s Botanical Gardens are a scented walk, a rock garden and pool, Japanese maples, and also a fine collection of old shrub roses.

Royal Victoria Park is located a little west of The Royal Crescent.

Entrance to Bath Botanical Gardens is free.

Other facilities in Royal Victoria Park include a children’s play area and skateboard park, bowling greens, golf & putting greens, a lake, a model boating pond, a bird aviary, allotments, tennis courts, public toilets and the Pavilion Restaurant (open yearly 8 am-5 pm) for some excellent food and drink.

In the summer, there are also displays of hot air ballooning.
