Weston-super-Mare, Somerset

Weston-super-Mare is a seaside resort town in North Somerset. Weston-super-Mare might better be called “Weston-super-Mud” due to the mud flats which stretch to a far off water line. Access to the ocean is nigh impossible.

The town is well know for its Grand Pier which was extensively damaged by fire in July 2008. The pier is now being rebuilt and is expected to open again in late 2010.

The beach at Weston-super-Mare is sandy but mudflats extend from the sandy beach for about a mile to the water line at low tide. Walking on the mudflats is dangerous.

Access – Getting There

The town is accessible via the A370. By rail, the station is on a loop off the main Bristol to Taunton Line. There are trains to Bristol Parkway, Cardiff Central in Cardiff and Taunton.

There are also connections to London Paddington and Manchester Piccadilly, though the latter will require a change of train at Bristol Temple Meads.
