The George Inn in Bathampton is located on the bend of Mill Lane in the Somerset village of Bathampton. It sits across the road from St Nicholas Church, and the Kennet and Avon Canal flows gently past the pub’s spacious beer garden.

Visitors can find the pub by walking along the towpath from central Bath after enjoying the sights along the Kennet and Avon Canal Trail. Walking even further along the path will lead the visitor to the impressive Dundas Aqueduct.

The church and graveyard of St Nicholas’

St Nicholas’ Church

Adjacent to the pub is the St Nicholas’ Church an Anglican church originally dating from the 13th century. The tower is from the 15th century. There were also renovations in both the 18th and 19th centuries. The church is renowned for its Australia Chapel, which honors Admiral Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales, who was laid to rest there in 1814. The graveyard also houses several other notable tombs.
