Hammersmith tube station is a station on the London Underground in west London. The station is on the District and Piccadilly lines. Hammersmith station first opened in 1874. The station is in TravelCard Zone 2 and is a busy station. There is a seperate Hammersmith Station on the Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines, a short walk away.

Piccadilly Line

The station is on the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground network. It lies between Barons Court to the east and Acton Town (or Turnham Green in the early mornings and late evenings) to the west.

District Line

On the District Line the station lies between Barons Court to the east and Ravenscourt Park to the west.

The station is a 10-minute walk north of the River Thames and Hammersmith Bridge. The Blue Anchor is an historic London pub dating from the 18th century near the bridge. Shepherd’s Bush is to the north and Holland Park and the Design Centre to the northeast.

Hammersmith Bus Station outside the station is a major hub and has the following services.

Buses 72, 220, 225 and the night bus N72 run north to Shepherd’s Bush; the 27, 110, 190, 218
267, 306, H91, N9, N11 and N266 all run west to Chiswick; the 190, 211, 220, 295, N27, N97 and N266 run southeast towards Fulham, Putmey or West Brompton.
