Oddicombe Beach, Torbay, Devon
Oddicombe Beach is one of the best beaches in the vicinity of Torquay and Babbacombe.
It is a mixed sand and shingle beach at the foot of wooded, red sandstone cliffs, typical of the beautiful Devon coastline.
Views
There are spectacular views from the top of the cliffs at Babbacombe Downs, which can be reached either on foot or by the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, a funicular railway from Babbacombe Downs to Oddicombe. The historic funicular dates from 1926 and is in operation from Easter until September 30. A single ticket is presently 1.10 GBP.
Beach Facilities
Facilities on the beach include a cafe on the cliff, boat/pedallo hire, deck chairs, beach huts and another cafe on the shore.
Oddicombe can be reached by bus #32 from Torquay. Parking is available about half a mile from the cliffs.
Hotel Accommodation in Torbay
Torquay has plentiful hotel accommodation ranging from top class hotels to more budget guest houses. Some recommended places to stay in the area include the higher end Babbacombe Bay Hotel, The Grand Hotel and the Abbey Sands Hotel.
More budget options in the area are the Newburgh Guesthouse, the Haven House guest house and the Burlington Hotel.
