London Olympic Torch Route Days 8 & 9
On what promises to be an idyllic summer’s weekend the 2012 Olympic Torch relay is in to days two and three of its five day progress through Wales.
Today Day 8, the Olympic torch will be carried from Cardiff (Caerdydd), the Welsh capital, to Swansea through Dinas Powys, Barry, Caerphilly (known for Caerphilly Castle and Caerphilly cheese), Merthyr Tydfil, Bridgend and Neath.
Doctor Who aka Matt Smith will carry the torch around Cardiff, where the long-running series in made. Another celebrity among the 132 torchbearers today is the former world champion hurdler Colin Jackson. A special event at Singleton Park in Swansea will welcome the Olympic flame to the city.
Tomorrow Day 9 the Olympic torch will travel from Swansea to Aberystwyth via Llanelli, Fishguard, Newport, Cardigan, Llanrhystud and Aberystwyth.
