Jerome K Jerome Residence, Chelsea Bridge Road, London
Jerome K Jerome (1859-1927), the author best known for his book Three Men In A Boat, lived for a time in a flat on Chelsea Bridge Road while writing his most famous work. Jerome’s achievements are commemorated by a blue plaque on the wall of his former residence.
Chelsea Bridge Road is now one of London’s most exclusive addresses and a man of Jerome K. Jerome’s modest means would no longer be able to afford the exorbitant rents of properties in the area nowadays. A one-bedroom apartment on Chelsea Bridge Road costs around 1.6 million pounds (2014 prices).
