History

The original church dates from 1873 and was built to the designs of Robert Rippon Duke – ‘the creator of Victorian Buxton’ – and the architectural advisor to the Duke of Devonshire. The large transept was added in 1883 as the congregation grew, and in 1906 the tall Perpendicular-style tower was constructed. In 2023 the church celebrated its 150th anniversary after restoration work carried out in the previous decades.

Within easy reach of Buxton by car are Blue John Cavern (20 minutes) and the pleasant village of Eyam, 25 minutes on the A623. Chatsworth House is a 30-minute drive west also on the A623. Sheffield is a 50-minute drive on the A57 or A625 and A6.

The town of Buxton in Derbyshire is on the A6 south of Stockport. There are trains to Buxton from Piccadilly Station in Manchester. The 199 bus connects Buxton to Manchester Airport.
