The Metro Shuttle was a frequent, free loop bus in Stockport that passed most of the major attractions and shopping areas in the town. The service was in operation from 2007 until 2019.

Route

From Stockport Station the bus passed the Garrick Theatre and Hat Museum, Merseyway Shopping Centre, Sainsbury’s, the Peel Centre, Tesco, Asda, Staircase HouseStockport MarketSt Mary’s ChurchStockport Air Raid Shelters, Stockport Bus Station on Chestergate, the County and Magistrates courts, Stockport Town Hall, and then back to the Grand Central Leisure Complex and Stockport Station.

Buses are every 12 minutes. Mondays to Saturdays 8 am – 6 pm; Sundays 10.30 am – 5 pm.

Metroshuttle services operate in Manchester city centre (where there are 3 routes) and Bolton as well as Stockport. The three routes in Manchester are free bus 1, free bus 2 and free bus 3.

The free bus 1 runs from Piccadilly Station via Station Approach, Piccadilly, Portland Street, Charlotte Street, Spring Gardens, King Street, Cross Street, Market Street, St Mary’s Gate, Deansgate, Quay Street, Gartside Street, Bridge Street, John Dalton Street, Cross Street, King Street, Spring Gardens, York Street, New York Street, Portland Street, Chorlton Street, Aytoun Street, Auburn Street, Station Approach and back to Piccadilly Station.

8.20 am to 7.15 pm (every ten minutes).

11 am to 6 pm (every 12 minutes)

The free bus 2 runs from Piccadilly Station via Station Approach, Piccadilly, Chatham Street, Aytoun Street, Piccadilly, Lever Street, Dale Street, Church Street, High Street, Nicholas Croft, Shudehill, Shudehill Interchange, Shudehill, Withy Grove, Corporation Street, Todd Street, Victoria Station Approach, Hunts Bank Approach, Victoria Street, Chapel Street, Victoria Bridge Street, Deansgate, Peter Street, Oxford Street, Whitworth Street, Aytoun Street, Auburn Street, Station Approach and back to Piccadilly Station.

7.10 pm to 11.30 pm (every 20 minutes)

Saturday
8.30 am to 7.30 pm (every ten minutes)
