Whaley Bridge is a railway station on the Buxton Line to Stockport Station in Stockport and Piccadilly Station in Manchester.

The next stop travelling north towards Manchester is Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Travelling south towards Buxton the next stop is Furness Vale. There are approximately 1-2 Manchester-bound trains an hour from the station. Other stations on the line heading north are Hazel Grove then Woodsmoor and Davenport.

A station has existed here since 1857.

The station is only staffed from 6.50 am to 1.25 pm on Mondays to Saturdays. At other times passengers can purchase a ticket from a machine or pre-purchase them in advance.

There is a waiting room provided for passengers. There are no toilets at the station.

The station which is on the A5004 (Buxton Road) is a close walk from the A6 and the 199 bus route to Manchester Airport. A nearby pub is The Railway with good beer and food and outdoor seating. The Goyt Inn is another local pub on Bridge Street and there are a number of local shops, restaurants and a chippy, The Fryery, on the main road.

The station is a short walk from the Whaley Bridge dam which was in the news headlines in the summer of 2019 as it was in danger of collapse, with the threat of the Toddbrook reservoir flooding the town.

Further to the south are the twin reservoirs of Fernilee and Errwood.

Nearby local pubs are The Goyt Inn and The Railway.
